ABOUT

In a few words:

Hi, I am Amit.

I believe that each and every one of us can make the world a better place, even if it sometimes feels a bit pretentious or naive.

In my career so far, I have attempted to positively impact the world as a clinical psychologist, high-tech entrepreneur, researcher, lecturer, and musician. I aim to use my diverse experience to offer (hopefully) creative ways to encourage progress, prosperity, and kindness.

In a few paragraphs

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and an Associate Professor directing The Digital Interventions Psychology Lab at The Department of Community Mental Health, University of Haifa. Previously, I was an assistant professor at the Zucker-Hofstra School of Medicine in New York. I conducted my MA and PhD in clinical psychology at Bar Ilan University.

In my academic work I (1) research factors that increase user engagement with digital programs, (2) study digital programs that help people help others, and (3) develop theories that explain the relationship between technological progress and emotional well-being.

I developed freely available programs that help parents improve the relationship with their children, and programs that train volunteers to help women with postpartum depression and people after a psychotic episode – programs which have reached hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

My articles are published in leading psychology and digital health journals.

You can read more about these works on my laboratory website.

I sit on the board of directors of the International Association for Research on Internet Interventions, a scientific editor of a journal in the field, and served as a member of the founding committee of the First International Congress for Parental Support.

My first encounter with the high-tech world was around 2006, and the beginning was quite accidental. I was approached by an entrepreneur who asked me to help him understand user behaviors on his company's website. This is when I learned that my knowledge in statistics and psychology is valuable. Since then I have consulted more than 70 companies in the areas of product and analytics, founded two startups, and served as head of the data research team in another startup.
